One of the best small school prospects and the best big man prospect is St. Bonaventure’s Nicholson. He is a very talented scorer on the low block and the perimeter. Nicholson is has good presence in the post and can score over either shoulder. When he steps out to the perimeter he has a good mid-range game. Average defender and average rebounder.
This season has been a drop-off for Nicholson after a standout and great junior year. He is down about 5 PPG and is shooting the ball at a lower rate, in his defense; defenses are keying on him every play. He is the man on the Bonnies and therefore he has to generally fight through double and triple teams every play,
I want to see Nicholson play tougher and more consistently inside the paint. Overall he is a very good talent – the best St. Bonaventure has ever offered, but he lacks assertiveness. A lot has to do with his value to the team. Right now Nicholson is a fringe first rounder battling a lot other prospects at his position that have more upside.
