Big, defensive guards are not around in surplus anymore making Burgess a rare commodity. He has great size and the defensive ability to guard all three perimeter positions. He is strong and quick, a quality overall athlete. On offense Burgess does a little bit of everything for his team, but his main strength is his shooting ability. From three he has NBA range and is a quality mid-range shooter.
Playing for VCU makes it a little easier to get noticed as a small school prospect. After the NCAA Tournament run last year Burgess has had eyes on him. He played five games in the National spotlight and has carried over the momentum this year.
Burgess has the size and physical skills to be successful at the next level. He reminds of Wesley Matthews in the regard that they were both very similar. Burgess is being overlooked, has a solid offensive triggered by his shooting ability, and is a very good defender. He is only a junior, but could be an early second round selection this year.

Burgess should be drafted 1st round. Set NCAA record with consecutive starts surpassing Patrick Ewing. He is the Cal Ripken of NCAA hoops, and not to mention that he is a winner. At 6’6 and 225 he has NBA size (trust me I have seen him in person). He is very strong and can compete and defend at the next level. He is being underrated, but lets hope not too much like what happened to Jamie Skeen last year.
