Teague is not the best player on Kentucky, but he is a fine point guard. He is a very good athlete on both ends of the floor displaying that in transition as well as in pressure defense. Teague uses his quickness to keep stride with any point guard and has shown the ability to be a very good defender.
As the season continues on Teague has shown improvements offensively. It is not his team and early in the season that was not clear. Coming into his freshman year Teague was ready to become the next great point guard after John Wall and Brandon Knight, but that was not his role. Over the last few games Teague has been very good on defense and is spreading the ball around on offense.
A lot has been made of Teague’s struggles this year, but I do not see it affecting him at the next level. He is a really good athlete for his position with great quickness. His overall decision-making needs to improve to be elite at the next level and that may require a second year at Kentucky. That was the norm before, but over the past 4-5 years it seems point guards can make the transition after one year in college; whether that year was successful or a struggle.
