Quincy Miller changed his mind and will enter the NBA Draft hiring Dwon Clifton as his agent.

It may be something in the water, but Miller had a similar freshman year as his former teammate Perry Jones III, but for different reasons. Coming out of high school Miller was tow things for sure:

  1. 1.       An elite prospect with unlimited potential and
  2. 2.       Recovering from a major knee injury

Both of those factors led to Miller having an average, forgettable freshman year. He was the co-Big Freshman of the year averaging 10.6 PPG and 4.9 RPG in 37 games.

Miller has elite size for a small forward. He is 6-9 with the ball-handling skills of a point guard and can play like one when called upon. He is a point forward who can get his shot when need be. In high school Miller was one of the better three-point shooters and could get his shot off the bounce or in catch-and-shoot situations.  He coasted off of skill and athleticism then and struggled with the effort required to be great at the college level.

Until Miller is fully recovered from his injury he is going to be a step slower than he can be. No question there is a lot of talent there, but the effort, strength, and burst he had in high school was not present at Baylor.

As of today Miller is the No. 4 small forward, going No. 22 Overall in the Mock Draft, and is the No. 23 prospect on the Big Board.

With Miller there is a lot to like about his game. In high school he was favorably compared to a guard like Kevin Durant. That may be a little off base, but the skills are there. Miller is a very athletic wing with great length, speed, and athleticism. He can virtually score from anywhere when on with NBA three point range and finishing ability at the rim. Miller has the skill-set to be a quality defender as well with his length.

There has not been much to see of Miller mainly because he has not done a lot on the court this season for Baylor. A lot of that falls on Miller and his development as a player. He has struggled adapting to the college game without the freedom he was used to in college.

Miller is clearly a lottery talent that has had a lot working against him this season. His previous injury may have something to do with his struggles, but so does his role and fit on the team. It is a little unclear on whether Miller should declare for the draft this year or come back.
