Barton is a terrific scorer and shooter from the wing. He can be a streaky shooter, but one that can really fill it up when he gets hot. He is good from deep and when he gets into the paint he absorbs contact well. He does not look it because of his slight frame, but Barton is a solid rebounder for his position and improved defender.
In his sophomore season he has really become a more efficient scorer. All of his percentages are up across the board from the field, three, and the free-throw line. Other than from three he is shooting more this season as well.
His ability to score and shoot should not to be ignored. If we learned anything from MarShon Brooks last year it is that scorers have a place in the NBA. Barton is a lot leaner than Brooks and has less experience, with a smaller sample size of quality. Some bulk will help him transition better as well as a more consistent showing on a nightly basis.
