Analysis:

Williams is not a new face, but is new to the top of most people’s draft boards. He is an E.T. (extraterrestrial) athlete with unlimited ability to run and jump. He will take your breath away nightly with amazing moves that is for sure. As a defender he uses his length and quickness to stay in front of his man and make steals. He is improving his ability to make basketball decisions and if he can become more of a play-maker, watch out. Williams seems to already be a lock for the lottery and could go even higher if he lives up to the hype.

Is Williams anything more than an athlete? That has been the question from midway through his freshman year to today. Most expected in the summer of 2011 Williams would be working out in the summer getting ready for his second NBA season, not his junior year in college.

Williams really needs to work on adding skill to his athleticism, become better at the little things in basketball. If he can show growth as a shooter, rebounder, passer and all-around hustle player he may drag his name back into the conversation as a first round prospect. He has a lot of work to do.
