Selected No. 19 by the Boston Celtics
NBA Position: Guard
Hometown: Tacoma, WA
High School: Findley Prep
NBA Comparison: Russell Westbrook
Strengths: Arguably the best defender in the draft, Bradley brings instant athleticism to any program. With a wide wingspan and quick feet to go with great leaping ability, Avery causes fits for opposing guards. Having the shooting ability to use defenders off the dribble, and capable of sitting on the wing for spot-up jump shots will help make up for his lack of size at the two guard position. He reflects the maturity of a senior in realizing his role on an already-talented Texas team. His willingness to do what is in his teams best interest will translate over into becoming a great teammate at the next level.
Weaknesses: Inconsistent on the offensive side of the ball, and at times breaks from the team offense to produce shots for himself. Lack of size will make it difficult for him to transition into a two guard on the next level. While he does have a quick first step, he doesn’t have explosive enough speed to drive past most point guards in the NBA. He will also have to grow in the leadership department if he is to become a point man in the NBA.
