Daniel Orton
Selected No. 29 by the Orlando Magic
College: Kentucky
Birthday: 8/6/90
NBA Position: Power Forward/Center
Class: Freshman
Ht: 6-10
Wt: 255
Hometown: Oklahoma City, OK
High School: Bishop McGuinness
NBA Comparison: Kendrick Perkins
Strengths: Big body. Long arms. Athletic. Soft hands. Coordinated and smooth. Runs the court very well. Good moves, good touch underneath. Very strong. Uses body well already on block.
Weaknesses: A project, Orton tends to play too much on the perimeter and needs to learn to stay on the block. Could be years away from being a reliable NBA player. Only notched double-digits in scoring twice as a freshman at Kentucky. Needs to bring it every possession. Rebounding and defending are a work in progress, with much more room for development. Poor vision – he would go games without an assist. Not the greatest athlete, will need to get creative underneath to score with any frequency.
