Strengths: Butler is a player who has developed an array of skills since his freshman year. He has a tremendous work ethic on and off the court that has helped increase his strength and versatility. Playing in the Big East gives him an advantage because he goes up against arguably the best conference each year. His time in the post gave him the ability to post up smaller forwards in the paint, but Butler has never been afraid to pull up from mid-range or beyond the arc. This will bode well for him in the NBA in smaller line ups where he can create mismatches and use his strength to his advantage.
Weaknesses: Butler needs to work on creating his own shot off the dribble. He will be dependent on a solid NBA point guard to show his true potential in the league if he does not improve his ball handling and ability to create. He will need to work on his quickness to guard forwards on the perimeter who will be bigger and stronger in the NBA. He has to develop more of a killer instinct. This will come in time as he matures and gets help from coaches and NBA veterans.
