Ekpe Udoh

Selected No. 6 by the Golden State Warriors

College: Baylor
Birthday: 5/20/87
NBA Position: Power Forward
Class: Junior
Ht: 6-10
Wt: 240
Hometown: Edmond, OK
High School: Sante Fe
NBA Comparison: Emeka Okafor

Strengths: Ekpe Udoh is a terror for most college kids to guard. He can do a lot of things and is understands the game well. He is a very good athlete, strong, has good hands and can make a tough catch. Good timing on defense. Good length and size, big shoulders. Energetic and active underneath the hoop. Good passer. Might stay another season at BU because they will be even better next season. Good skills on the perimeter, creates mismatches. Soft touch from everywhere on court. Good basketball player and will only get better. Hard worker.

Weaknesses: Although skillful on the perimeter we would like to see him stay on the block more. He is a tough to guard anywhere on the court but needs to hone his post skills if he wants to be a quality NBA player. Gets a little too excited sometimes but makes aggressive mistakes. Seems to be trying to be making up for lost time as he sat out a season transferring from Michigan. Has struggled against physical opponents (KU, UT) and he should stay another season. Lacks focus sometimes. Needs to boxout better. Needs to bring it every possession, especially against other lottery picks. Tends to beat up inferior opponents and shy away from superior. Needs to get mentally tougher and more physical when playing on the road and against the big boys, otherwise he will be toast in the pre-draft workouts.
