Strengths: Best thing about Gani Lawal is his length and ability to play in the post. He is a true big man that always plays down low but lacks ideal height. He makes up for his height with length (7’0” wingspan) and has good athleticism. He over powers inferior opponents but turns pedestrian against stronger opponents (Duke, Wake Forest, FSU). Getting more comfortable in the post. He should stay all four years since he will not be a lottery pick this season and his stock will be at its highest after next season. Strong in the paint, likes to aggressively finish, uses power dribble well. Aggressive rebounder, good runner, good energy, decent hands.

Weaknesses: Although he likes to play on the block a lot he is not very smooth with his post moves. He typically only uses his strength and right hand to score. Does not posses a counter move using only a power dribble and strength to score. Does not have a jump shot and only shoots 60% FT. Not very smart right now, needs to become more comfortable and develop more post moves. Struggles with the double team and does not know where to pass. Does not have good ball handling or passing ability. Way too many TOs. Not very smart defensively but makes up for it with length and athleticism.
