Gordon Hayward

Selected No. 9 by the Utah Jazz

College: Butler
Birthday: 3/23/90
NBA Position: Small Forward
Class: Sophomore
Ht: 6-9
Wt: 207
Hometown: Brownsburg, IN
High School: Brownsburg
NBA Comparison: Adam Morrison

Strengths: Turning into a combo forward with a very nice stroke. Great range even though he struggled on 3-point shooting this season. Was a 45% 3-point shooter as a freshman but fell to 30% from behind the arc as a sophomore. Great free throw shooter (83%). Solid rebounder for a wing; instinctual on the offensive glass. Displays a rare toughness. Good feet on shot, gets squared up, nice arc, good quick release. Do not leave him open. Smart shooter, good shot selection. Confidence growing. Capable at catching and shooting, while finding open spots to shoot. Gets to the free throw line. Mismatch with his size and shooting ability.

Weaknesses: Not a high level athlete. Not a great passer or facilitator. Still figuring out which position he wants to be; whether a small forward or off-guard. Learning how to play down low and rebound and score amongst the trees. Was a perimeter player his entire career until now. Lacks aggression on the offensive end of the court at times. Needs to develop a better understanding of the game (too many turnovers, not enough assists). Needs to work on understanding the double team. Struggles to create his own shot. Not a great ball handler or defender.
