Selected No. 20 by the San Antonio Spurs
College: Oklahoma State
NBA Position: Shooting Guard
Hometown: Junction City, Arkansas
High School: Junction City High School
NBA Comparison: John Salmons
Strengths: James Anderson is a lights out scorer with unlimited range. He is a great catch and shoot scorer. Great shot when he squares up. Very long and a great NBA Shooting Guard body. Very nice jump shot, good form from anywhere on court. Workhorse that has averaged over 30 MPG the last three seasons. If he stays he will average over 25 PPG next season. Above average athlete, good hands, quick feet. Can create off the dribble but not for his teammates and is not his strength. Go to guy at the end of games. Should stay another season and try to become a lottery pick next season. Great defensive frame.
Weaknesses: Not a tremendous athlete and not a great ball handler. Struggles in traffic and making contested shots. Not very smart, low hoops IQ. Needs more seasoning. Bad passer and decision maker. Struggles to create his own shot but thrives at the catch and shoot. Does not move without the ball well. Decent rebounder. Not as aggressive as we would like but does take control at the end. Needs to be more decisive and assertive, which will come with more seasoning. Decent defender but will become much better as he ages.
