NBA Position: SG
Hometown: Detroit, MI
High School: Hargrave Military Academy
NBA Comparison: Jamal Crawford
Strengths: Crawford is an interesting prospect due to his unique skillset. He has the dribble drive ability to get to hoop or get to whatever spot he wants to on the court at any time. Then he has the range to shoot it from deep or pull up off the dribble. Able to score almost at will or whenever he wants, Crawford resembles an NBA player with the same last name, Atlanta’s Jamal Crawford. With a terrific first step and the speed to get around his opponent, he will be able to put up points in bunches. Defensively he has the wingspan and quickness to be a solid defender, but much of his focus is on offense right now. He translates as a guy who can come off the bench and give you 15-20 points a night on a consistent basis.
Weaknesses: The biggest knock on Crawford has been that he is too selfish and not the greatest teammate. He can be a one-dimensional player who has tunnel vision for the basket at times. While being an explosive athlete, he can fall in love with his perimeter game for stretches and not make the athletic plays he could. Not a great playmaker for someone who handles ball so much, he needs to learn how to make plays for teammates and distribute the ball. He doesn’t have the greatest shot selection — though it has improved some — and has a quick trigger early in the shot-clock. He is an undersized shooting guard and needs to add some bulk to handle scoring guards at the next level. While being a one-dimensional player, Crawford needs to improve his playmaking ability and strength to become an impact player in the NBA.
