Strengths: Robinson is a phenomenal athlete who possesses a freakish vertical leaping ability and has plenty of youtube highlights to back it up. Robinson is particularly explosive when jumping off two feet. He utilizes his tremendous vertical leaping to attack the offensive glass looking for put-back dunks, to elevate over defenders in traffic to get off his jumper, and is a serious threat for an alley-oop dunk on any play. Has a good set of hands which he uses to snare rebounds and catch difficult alley-oop passes. Robinson excels in transition when he can fill running lanes and finish plays at the rim. Robinson’s great athleticism has allowed for him to be a shot blocking presence on defense as well. Robinson is a one of a kind athlete who will be competing to be a slam dunk champion in the near future.
Weaknesses: Robinson needs to improve his ball handling in order to be able to create shots for himself at the next level, a problem that his limited his scoring capabilities in college. A quicker release and added arch will make Robinson’s jump shot much more consistent as he continues to improve his outside game, an area that has seen improvement from his junior to senior seasons at Uconn. As good of an athlete as Robinson is, his lateral quickness is not as explosive as his vertical leaping ability. Robinson could stand to add some upper body strength to be able to handle the physicality of the NBA game around the rim, which is where the majority of Robinson’s points come from.
